The Joy of Ndebele Porcelain (16-piece set) from Oyelakin Dinners is absolutely stunning. The moment I opened the box, I was struck by how beautiful and intentional each piece is; the patterns are authentic and the colors are so vibrant that this dish sets beats any of the other dish sets that I own: HANDS DOWN! This was my first foray into thinking about art as a dish set, so purchasing this has definitely shifted my idea about what art can be. This is truly African table art at its finest.
I’ve been using the set all week, and I want to speak specifically to the quality: it’s amazing. I’ve been washing the dishes by hand, and they’ve held up beautifully without fading. The dish set is solid and well-made.
What I love most is how versatile and elevated this set feels. It’s functional for everyday use, yet so exquisite that I can honestly envision it as a permanent tablescape on a formal dining room table. It feel so wonderful to be adding traditional African pieces into my home that are functional and also serve as art pieces as well. These sets would make wonderful gifts.
